lots of fruit

I got to play with my new stamp sets this weekend, my new favorite being "Tart & Tangy" by Stampin Up. It's so darn cute and I love the bright colors. I got some inspiration from this card on SCS, so I made a few cards with it. This set is from the Spring Mini, but so is the polka dot wheel that I used for the background on these cards. I love polka dots, so this wheel is going to get lots of use over the next few weeks.

The blue flower shaped cut-out on the apple card is from the "Die Cut Blooms" set from the Spring Mini. I like all the die cuts, think they are super cute. I'm not totally convinced they were worth the money yet (as it's simply SU paper die cut into shapes). We will see how many fun things I can make with 'em...
I also got 3 new Simply Scrappin' Kits, which I love to use for making cards...it makes it so easy to put together. I will have some photos of a few SS cards this week hopefully. I'm trying to gear up for my craft fair in June, so I have to get going on making more cards! I sold a few again this weekend.

Here are some more photos of the cards up close...

excited!

Friday, April 25, 2008
so I've got some exciting news...well, exciting for me at least :) I've been officially accepted into 2 craft fairs. One will take place on June 14th in Westborough, MA. The other will take place this Fall, Nov 22nd, at Middlesex Comm. College...literally right down the street from our house!! I am very excited because I have wanted to do some fairs for a while. I better get crackin' on making stuff!

Here are some more spring/summer like projects that I've created. I imagine I will be making lots of things like this for the craft fair in June. I just got a big order in from Stampin Up, so I have lots of new stuff to play with. As always, I got my inspiration for these paperclip bookmarks from Splitcoast. There have been lots of versions of these on there, and I just love how simple they are to make. You can buy the plain jumbo paper clips at Staples. All it takes is some embellishments & glue dots, and you can make these cute little bookmarks!
The photo holders are also something very quick & easy to do. I'm hoping these will sell well at my craft fairs. They can be used to hold photos, post-it notes, business cards, or even a recipe.

new look...no more pink.

so I've spent some time updating the look & feel of my craft site. I'm not too much of a pink person so the pink flowers had to go. I used Adobe Photoshop all last night to create this new banner & side bars. I hope you like it. The colors should be yellow, blue & green...but some people were telling me it was showing as peach? Comment me and let me know what you think! I have some things I will be taking photos of today that I've made recently, so hopefully I will have another update with pics for you soon.

On another note, this banner creation was technically my first pass at "Digi-Scrappin" (AKA Digital Scrapbooking). Like I need to get into anything else, right? Anyway, I used a wonderful template I found online. The name of the template is "Kit Safari Baby" and it's published by Fanette. You can find more info on their website located here. Thanks for looking!

mini altered clipboard

Monday, April 14, 2008
I didn't get to spend as much time as I wanted to in my craft room this weekend. We went to the Sox Game on Saturday, which was great. And Sunday we were out & about. At any rate, I did make this small little clipboard for Pete's Sister-in-Law, Teresa (hence the letter "T" on the clipboard!). She had a get together on Friday night at her home, and I thought this was a nice little hostess gift. Just something to hold her post-it notes or recipe cards. These clipboards are small, but quick to alter and can be found at A.C. Moore in the wood section, if you have one near you. What I liked about this one is that I could actually unscrew the clamp from the top and remove it while I altered. This allowed me to have the paper cover the entire base. Once I was done altering, I just screwed the clamp back on. Super easy!

Hopefully more to come this week. Thanks for looking!

Cards...and maybe a Craft Fair?

Monday, April 7, 2008
So this weekend we went out to my parents house to celebrate my Dad's Birthday. We had a great time on Saturday night with the family. I had such a great response from my co-workers last week when I brought some greeting cards in, that I thought I would take the basket with me to my parents, and see if anyone was interested in some cards. Sure enough, I sold 6 cards! I was so excited.

On Sunday, I went to a Craft Fair in Springfield with my Mom, cousin & Aunt. It was pretty big and they had lots of great stuff. NO ONE sold paper crafts! This is the 2nd fair I've been to recently where no one has any paper crafted items. I picked up some info on the show and really hope to enter it the next time they are around.

Here is a recent card I made using some Prima Flowers and the Rub-On's from SU! Sale-a-Bration. It's a simple card but pretty. I hope to get more crafting done this week as things should be a little less hectic around here...

Bundle of Joy

Friday, April 4, 2008
When you are my age, there are 2 types of cards you can never have enough of: Weddings & Babies! I made this card last night after I got back from taking an exam in my Graduate Class. (blegh). It was a great de-stresser for me. I didn't make it with anyone particular in mind, but I'm sure it will go to good use as I do know some people that are currently expecting!

I'm finding that I really love the wider 5/8" Grosgrain ribbon. It really adds to the card and gives it that extra something. I will need to buy more I think ! I actually used the SU! markers on the giraffe in this card and they colored quite well. One of these days I might splurge for the Copic Markers, but for now the SU ones will do.

Happy Friday everyone!

Scallops Birthday

Wednesday, April 2, 2008
I'm liking the So Many Scallops set a lot. I feel like they make quick & easy cards. This card is pretty much a replica of my earlier card, just changed up the colors for a much brighter effect. I really like the way it turned out. Once again, I pulled the colors from the American Crafts Ribbon that I had - and I think it all coordinates nicely.

"Scallops Birthday":
Stamps: So Many Scallops, Circle of Friendship
Paper: SU! Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore, YoYo Yellow
Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore, YoYo Yellow
