a few altered items...

Thursday, August 28, 2008

just trying to get a head start on some craft fairs I will be doing this fall. I'm going to be focusing mostly on Holiday items, but since it's August, I couldn't bring myself to bust out the xmas paper. ya know?

Anyway, I wanted to use up some of the frames & jumbo clips that I had sitting around. I decided to alter them with this really cute DP I had.
The Stampin Up! Die Cuts go perfect with this paper. I used them on these jumbo clips. They look so great when you layer them with dimensionals. I also used American Crafts Thickers (shocker, I know) on the frame. It says "smile".

Altered Notebooks...& a Video

Friday, August 22, 2008
woah, 2 posts in one day!

I've completed editing this video of me altering a Notebook. It's pretty straight forward really so not much text or instruction. If you have any questions on techniques or supplies, just leave me a comment and I will reply!

These notebooks are going to my 2 nephews, and one to Matthew. Matthew is 6 years old and loves to draw. He was the Ring Bearer in our wedding and is very close to my family! I figured I would give him something fun to put all his drawings into. He also loves Baseball and of course the Red Sox.

Hope you enjoy the video!

Digi-Scrap Page #2

I was on a roll with the whole digital scrapbooking thing so I decided to keep going and create page #2 for this layout. It's lots of fun. (click on above photo for larger view)

Adobe Photoshop is so powerful, and I only know how to use like .01% of the features!! Layering is very powerful though. There are lots of neat things you can do.

I'm not quite sure what I will do with my digital layouts just yet. I might just keep a folder of them, and once I feel like I have enough, create a printed photo book with them. For now I'm going to keep perusing the web for free digital kits - until I know that I like it enough to start purchasing them. (like I need to BUY any more supplies that have to do with scrapbooking! ha!)

This weekend I hope to get to use my new Cricut Design Studio Software - I got it courtesy of some gift cards for my birthday. I can't wait to play around with it!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Digital Scrap Kit: "Harvest Spice" from the Shabby Princess - check her out! Lots of great layouts! best part is they are FREE!!

my very first attempt at digi-scrappin.

Thursday, August 21, 2008
hey everyone - I know I've been pretty quiet lately, sorry about that! I hope to get into more of a routine and have more uploads for you soon. I am working on putting together another little video - that should be posted in a few days.

Today I thought I would share with you my first attempt at digital scrapbooking! Yep I took the plunge. For this layout I used Adobe Photoshop Software, and downloaded this wonderful free kit from
Shabby Princess. The name of the kit is called "Harvest Spice". (if you click the photo below it should show up nice & large for you to look at).

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think, and please do share any hints/tips/advice for Digital Scrapbooking! Any good sites that you have, I will post here for all to see. I'm hoping to get more into it, as I can basically do it from anywhere, as long as I have my laptop with me!

just a quick video...

Friday, August 15, 2008
here is a quick little iMovie that I put together of me making a Scrapbook Page. The photo is from our honeymoon in Hawaii. It was a self-portrait (aka Pete holding the camera out) of us on a Black Sand Beach on the Big Island. OHH how I long to be back...can you tell I'm missing it?!?

Anyway, the quality isn't that great - sorry. One of these days I will invest in an actual nice camcorder...right now I'm just using my digital camera.

I have another video coming soon. Just have to finish editing & what not. Enjoy :)

a new venture...

Friday, August 1, 2008
...and now for something new: I'm going to start offering a few things for sale!!

I've recently made a Shadow Box Baby Gift for a co-worker. Below are some photos of this project. I'm going to start offering these for $50 each. The price includes all materials & time. These boxes are fully customizable; I will work with you on the layout, design, colors, theme, etc! These make a wonderful unique gift for a newborn baby. The box below measures 9"x9" (7.5"x7.5" viewable). The frame is wooden, with plexi-glass (less breakable!).

Depending on the availability of the shadow boxes, I will use something similar to this - but am open to larger sizes, different styles, etc. Price may vary depending on particular type of box you are interested in, but I will work with you to quote these out.

Keep in mind, there are many things I can do with these. Have a Birthday, Anniversary, or Graduation to celebrate with someone? Don't know what to get them? Something like this might be the perfect gift.

Below is a photo of a shadow box I created for my brother when he Graduated College in 2005. As you can see, there are many celebrations in life that would be perfect to showcase with one of these shadow boxes.

Please contact me if you are interested or want more info. Thank you!
