Last year I got my Masters Degree from Bentley University. I was SO psyched to be done with school. Although the program only took me a few years to complete, I felt like I had been going to school for my entire life. (which I pretty much had been doing!)
I was so relieved & grateful when I was through. The best caption I could think of for this page was “FINALLY”. (I then vowed never to go to school again ) even the Photography class I took a few weeks ago made me twitch a bit. Just being back on a campus made me want to run screaming for the hills. The good news was that the class was totally about leisure this time!
I need to add some journaling & this page will be complete.
More scrapbooking for me, can you believe it? I had this photo lying around of Matthew & Catie and I wanted to use it in a layout. It’s one of my fave photos of these guys.
Those butterflies were all stamped with this stamp from Hero Arts. I colored them with Copics & added some shine with Perfect Pearls. (you can’t really tell in this photo but they look awesome in person!) I created the title with 2 different sets of Thickets from American Crafts.
After I posted that blog entry, I found this photo of Pete & I are on our 2 year Anniversary. It was taken by the waitstaff at the Capital Grille (YUMM). I really like the photo & wanted to be sure that I scrapbooked it. So I put together a quick 8″x8″ page (something new for me).
I used this collection by October Afternoon for all paper on here. The stickers are felt letter stickers from Making Memories. They are tricky little suckers let me tell ya…! Getting them to stick to the page just right was…interesting to say the least.(please ignore my horrendous hair in this photo. UGH)
I used a few punches - one from Martha Stewart, one from Marvy & also the Stampin Up Hearts punch to make all those fun little hearts. I popped most of them up with dimensional adhesive.
I like this page, I really do. But I have to say, I feel like I’ve totally lost my “touch” with scrapbooking (or perhaps I never had it??) It’s just that I started this whole obsession hobby way back in the day with scrapbooking my photos of college. I was pretty much an exclusive scrapper until I started getting into cards, and then it just took off from there.
I look at all the scrapbook stuff that’s out there now & I’m just in awe. There are SO many talented people out there who make AMAZING layouts. I am envious because I just don’t think I have it in me to crank out layouts like that. I am hoping that one day I will have a plethora of photos to scrap & maybe I will get “into my groove”, but for now I like focusing on cards & other fun projects. I’m not sure why I am rambling on about this…it’s just what I’m thinking I guess? So you might see more layouts from me, but you might not. They will likely be random.
just sharing a random scrapbook page that I’ve recently created. I’m working on an album for a friend - it’s going to be “Baby’s First Year” - here is the page I created for Halloween. I like to hit all of the major Holidays in the year.
I don’t scrapbook as often as I used to. In fact, I rarely scrapbook these days. It felt good to do a layout again. I had to leave spots blank for pictures - they can fill them in with their pics once I give them the completed album. I make sure that any overlapping or embellishments that I place onto the page isn’t secured down where the photos will go - that way they can just slide the photos in.
This title was created using American Crafts Thickers. Gosh, I love Thickers! They are so fun.
I am 99% sure that this paper & collection is from My Minds Eye. It’s a year or two old. I got it on super-sale at a scrapbook store clearance sale. Love that!
I am totally that “babysitter”. The one that pretty much lets the rugrats do whatever they please (isn’t that what a babysitter is for???) So this past summer, after a night full of cheeseburgers & ice cream, I got the kids in their PJ’s and totally caved to their request of playing with my iPhone. (I have the SpongeBob app….which apparently is great for hours of entertainment!). The backstory is that “Mom” has an iPhone - but since she really uses it for work - she can’t have the kids on it all the time. So the fact that I let them play with mine is well…pretty neat. So this pic is one I snapped while they were both contending for Spongebob. LOVE it. They are just so darn cute.
Paper & embellishments are from We R Memory Keepers Hippity Hoppity Collection. (SO CUTE). I cut the “iPhone” letters out with the Sesame Street Cricut Cartridge. The other letters were cut using a font on my computer & the SCAL software (which I’m totally getting into). The journaling tag is from Kristina’s awesome collection of Digital Cut files. I used my new punch from SU for the decorative edge on that photo mat. It’s a really pretty punch. Ribbon is from PTI.
Looking forward to some “warmer” weather this weekend (50’s maybe? I’ll take it!!)
I was lucky & snagged a copy of MDS from Stampin Up for a great price. I started playing around with it a bit tonight & came up with this quick scrapbook page. I used a pre-designed Christmas Layout & changed most of the stuff on there, ha. But I will say it was pretty easy to work with. I am hoping this software will make me digital scrapbook a little more perhaps?
This is one of my favorite photos of Pete & I - it was on our Honeymoon in Hawaii - 2007. Oh, to be back in Hawaii again!! *sigh*
Hi everyone! Here I am with some more scrapbook pages that I’ve been working on recently. It feels so good to get some scrapbooking in again. I just love scrappin’ photos of Matthew & Catie. They are such cute kids and are so photogenic!
To see any of these pages larger, just click on them.
This first layout is using all K & Company stuff. Those felt flowers were super fun to use - they combined perfectly with the Designer Paper. I also thought the color of Catie’s shirt matched nicely. I used American Crafts Thickers to create the Title.
These papers from Cosmo Cricket were perfect for a boy page. Matthew loves airplanes and the colors go nicely for a boy. I used my Cricut to cutout the word “tooth” and the other words are Heidi Swapp Chipboard letters that I sprayed with Tim Holtz Stain. Scallop circle was a Sizzix die that I cutout, and filled the inside with some circles. I used a Hero Arts stamp to make the journaling lines, and just cut them down to fit inside my circle. I inked all of the edges of papers with Tim Holtz Distress Ink.
This one of Catie is from a while back - when she was much younger. I had these photos of her with her Elmo Doll - the perfect reason to purchase the Sesame Street Font Cricut Cartridge when it went on sale! I love my Cricut - it’s one of the best tools that I have! All fonts in this layout below (& chalkboard background) are cutout using the Sesame Street Font Cartridge. How cute is Elmo?
OK the long awaited photos/video of the Mini Albums are here!
Ladies, I give to you - the cutest darn mini-albums kits ever….The Button Farm! I found this vendor while attending CKC in Manchester, NH. Last year I missed out on all the available kits (they sell fast!) so this year I was sure to stop by her booth nice & early. I was lucky enough to snag 3 albums & receive the bonus mini-pocket album for buying so many
Here are some photos of each of the albums…warning, there are a lot. Be sure to stick around until the end of this post for the Video!
First up is the “You Make me Happy” mini pocket-album that I received as a special gift for purchasing 3 or more kits:
The next album is this Halloween Binder Album. (click on the link to go directly to the Button Farm website, where she is selling these)
Lastly we have my favorite…”Enjoying the Great Outdoors” album. I tried looking for it on her website, but I’m not sure there are any of these kits left This is such a great album for any outdoor photos you have of camping, summer fun, etc.
I’ve put together a little video below where I show you page by page, the contents of each album. I apologize in advance for the crappy quality of the video, my pesky red t-shirt that kept showing up in the bottom of the video, and my stupid SNIFFLING. I have allergies pretty much 24×7 so it’s pretty annoying…yuck. One of these days I will actually get an HD Video Recorder…
Anyway, onto the video: (be sure to watch in HIGH Quality)
Lastly - just a few words about these kits. The prices are about right for all the supplies, plus the labor of designing these kits, putting together the directions, etc. - I didn’t mind paying the ~$35-$40 per album. In the video y0u will see that they come with pages of instructions for assembly. I am by no means affiliated with the Button Farm - just wanted to share these awesome kits with you so that you all can enjoy them as much as I have!
If anyone is interested in more on these just leave me a comment. I’m still up in the air on whether I will part with them. Perhaps if I get enough interest I will put them on my Etsy shop
here are the other 2 layouts that I worked on this past weekend. Such fun!
This first one is of Matthew and his cute little habit of sticking his tongue out whenever he does ANYTHING! It’s too funny.
Journaling Reads: May 2009 - Matthew is so cute when he is concentrating on something!! Whenever I take his photo, he seems to be playing, running, or climbing - and he always has his little tongue sticking out!!
Supplies: Bazzil Cardstock, Cosmo Cricket Designer Paper, Fancy Pants Chipboard Letters, Tim Holtz Spritz-On Ink, Papertrey Ink Lots of Dots Stamp Set, October Afternoon Die Cut, AC Ribbon, Fiskars Threading Water Punch, various circle punches.
This layout below was somewhat scraplifted off a page I saw over on TwoPeasinaBucket.com - but I cannot find the original at the moment. I am thinking it might be out for publication? Anyway, I love the simple layout and here is my interpretation of it…
I just love this shot I got of my Father with Catie sitting on his lap. How adorable!!
Journaling Reads: Catie is a little older now, but for the longest time, when she first learned to talk she had a hard time saying “Uncle Chris”. It came out as “Gunkle Chris” and stuck! I can’t believe she is growing up so fast. May 2009.
Supplies: SU! Kraft Cardstock, Chloe’s Closet Designer Paper, Ribbon from Making Memories. Bazzil Chipboard Letters.
I had a request today at work to bring in some of my cards - so I brought in my stash. Ummm…yikes. There are a LOT of cards. How on earth did I make so many?? Woops! I am hoping to get rid of some of them and then perhaps post some on my Etsy Shop. Yep that’s right - you heard me right - I opened an Etsy shop! I will post full details soon - and hopefully more stuff will be avaialable to buy!
I finally had the chance this weekend to sit down & scrap some of my own photos. I cannot tell you how long it has been? Man it felt good! Since I got my new Camera, I’ve been taking some really fun photos & just knew they would make perfect scrapbook layouts.
This first page is my fave from the weekend, it features one of my favorite cuties, Catie - eating Strawberries at a family BBQ. I took the photos one after another as she was enjoying the strawberries. I love how there is a sequence to them. I think it sort of tells a story?
Journaling Reads: Catie is known as the “fruit monster”! She LOVES fruit, especially strawberries!
This next layout took me barely any time at all. Don’t you just love it when layouts are super fast & simple? (wish I could say that about the one above - that took FOR-EVER!! but was worth it!)
Journaling Reads: Memorial Day 2009 - Mom & Dad had a cookout, it was a gorgeous day. The kids played outside and say on a blanket for some time with Uncle Chris. I of course, took lots of photos!
Supplies: Bazzil Cardstock, My Minds Eye Die Cuts & DP.
OK that’s it for today. I have 2 more pages and some cards to share with you but I will post tomorrow or later on this week. I gotta spread it out, ya know!?
