Video Tutorial: Coloring Techniques

January 31st, 2010

as promised, here is a quick video on a few coloring techniques. I focused on Prisma Colored Pencils & Copic Markers. Please note that I am NOT by any means an expert on either of these…I just watch a lot of YouTube and see what works for others…in this video I show you the quick & easy way that works for me. If you have any questions just leave me a comment. Thanks!!

EDIT: Yaneri had some great questions. Thanks Yaneri! I wanted to answer them for everyone:

I am using Memento Black Ink because I find it to be the best ink for coloring with Copics. Staz On ink will BLEED with Copic Markers.

Also, I am using PaperTrey Ink’s Stampers Select white cardstock - I find that with this paper & the above ink, nothing bleeds. It definitely helps to use quality cardstock.

I just LOVE all your video’s. They are the best teachers. I look forward to any others you post in the future. You always put me in a crafting mood. I can’t wait to try making these beautiful butterflies myself. Thanks so much for your inspiration!

    Cool vid!!
Why Momento Black Ink? Can u use Black StazOn ink? And also for the white paper. What brand of white paper do you use? Don’t the copic markers bleed thru the paper?
    Thanks Kerry!

Wow, this video reminds me of exactly how Jennifer McGuire does her butterflies in her video, even the format of how she videos and then adds audio afterwards is the same!

her butterfly video is wonderful! It’s what inspired me to try out those butterflies on my other posting. Filming videos & adding audio tracks over it is much easier (in my humble opinion :) ) than “filming live” - i always get too nervous, lol! It’s how a lot of the YouTube gals do it. :)
