Craft Fair Goodies: Halloween Boxes

September 9th, 2009

I am so excited to post these! These are by far my favorite item I’ve been working on these past few days. I even filmed a Video Tutorial to show you all how I assemble these cute little boxes!! Be sure to scroll to the end of this post to watch the video :)

I buy these boxes at AC Moore. (I got a bunch on sale the other week when they offered 30% off all unfinished wood products!) They come plain, and I spray paint them whatever color I want. In this case, they are for Halloween so they are black. (Pete helped me, I will admit - spray paint is stinky. yuck.)

A closeup of what’s inside! I grabbed yet another idea from Chic N’ Scratch & altered some Pixie Stix. SO simple & quick to do - but they really make them fun for Halloween. I also found a mixed bag of Halloween Pencils at AC Moore, so each box has one of those. Lastly, I stuck some candy corn in a small plastic bag and added that into the mix.

What I like about these boxes is that they can all be different. I grabbed a big Halloween paper pack from K & Company and just used an assortment of colors & embellishments to make these boxes. SO much fun. These 2 below are my favorite. I used this little Frankenstein guy that I’ve had for about a year now. I found him last year on clearance at Michael’s. How cute is he?

OK just one more to share! :) This vampire I thought was really cute too. He was on one of the pieces of DP from K & Company and I had to cut him out…

Lastly, here is a VIDEO that shows you how I put these together! At the time I filmed, I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to put inside, but you will still get the general idea of how to make them. Let’s hope these are big sellers at my Craft Fair in October!!

Huge fan of these boxes. I am making some for a craft fair in October. Got a question though - the ones I have found are too wide across the front for a strip of 12-in long paper to wrap around the box and meet or overlap in the back. I had some smaller ones that worked but I can’t seem to find that size anywhere now! This has really bummed me out because I love making these. What are the measurements of the boxes you have? Any ideas about what I could do to cover up the space in the back where the paper doesn’t meet?
